Congratulations to our metro 6 team for winning

and Cheryl Miscamble team manager, for a great result this season.
It is with a heavy heart that we sadly inform you of the passing of
Peter Rushton this morning. Peter was a true gentleman, life member
and local legend in the Bayside. Our thoughts prayers and condolences
are with Val and family for your loss. Today we lost a great man whose
tireless work and inspiration helped build our league.
Rest in peace big man we love you dearly Peter.
The funeral will be on Wednesday 18 September at the Bunerong Memorial
Park at 10:30 AM

New Training Lights Give
Strikers Vision to Expand
After over 30 years of substandard training lights at Peninsula Strikers
FC, a recent announcement by the Federal Minister for sport Don Farrell
last week, will enable the club to rapidly expand once our new lights
are fitted, after the Rudd Labor Government announced $120,000 in funding
towards this major project. The funding will be used to light up the
club's pitches and training areas.
Labor Candidate for Dunkley, Sonya Kilkenny, said the funding would
help deliver outstanding facilities, which was a great win for the club
and the community.
"This funding will provide the Peninsula Strikers with the support
they need to continue their vision of a strong, inclusive and active
Frankston community," Ms Kilkenny said.
"With this Federal funding, the Club's vision of pathways for
female players, social players, indigenous and CALD (Culturally and
Linguistically Diverse) community involvement is strengthened."
Club President Mark Brandon said the Federal Government funding would
complete "years of hard work by club members" determined to
provide a pathway for juniors players and broaden community involvement
in the Club.
"This project will benefit each and every one of our 450 members
both Junior and Senior players once completed, and allow us to involve
and engage the wider community" Mr Brandon said.
18 months ago soil excavated from Peninsula Link Fwy provided an extension
to our current training ground. This area has since been fitted with
irrigation and will be seeded at the end of our current season by FCC,
seeing the training grounds ready for use early next year. Funding for
new training lights, will cover our entire training area, which is just
fantastic. It will enable the club to now expand, benefiting all age
groups / teams, now and in the future.
Over the past 3 years we have been working together with Frankston
City Council, the training area has been increased to help the club
fulfil its vision. This expansion was urgently required, as the club
this year had reached maximum capacity and had to turn players away.
PSFC will create another competition ground, once the training area
is complete, at McClelland Drive. In 2013, PSFC have added 3 new teams,
one in the local Bayside FA and 2 teams to the Football Federation Victorian
competitions. Our first ever ladies team was entered in State 4 this
season, this now creates a pathway for junior females. Female soccer
is one of the fastest growing sports, in our area and in Victoria. In
another first for the club, a young men’s team was entered in
State 6, creating a future pathway for junior males who don’t
initially make our senior Saturday teams. PSFC also added a U35 men’s
team into the Bayside FA, on a Sunday morning. Club President Mark Brandon
explained, this new funding would ensure players who decided previously
decided to give up the sport, or who were required to go to other clubs
in the area, now had an option to continue with the club as we can now
expand as a club in the future.
Funds for the project are already included in the Budget.
FRANKSTON SOCCER CLUB SCORES WITH $120,000 FUNDING

its investment in local sporting communities.

fantastic benefits for the hundreds of soccer players at the Club.

and helping clubs like the Peninsula Strikers prosper into the future,"
Minister Farrell said.

This is a major step forward in our longevity and ongoing restructure
and rebuilding of our club, which is well over due!

out of your day and the more support that is shown, will only benefit
us, with media and local MPs in attendance for this exciting announcement
and launch.

Welcome to all our members and players to the 2013 season.
In particular, our new teams for 2013 : Women State 4, FFV Metro South
6 and Bayside Div 2.
The State 3 Seniors and Reserve teams kick off their campaign this Saturday
6th April against Casey Comets. On behalf of entire committee and myself,
I wish Dave, Steve, Paul and our terrific squad of players all the very
best for the season.
Women's FFV 4, Men's FFV 6 Bayside Div2, kick off the following weekend
and the committee wish you all the very best for the season. Our Veterans
team the Peninsula Celebrities will also keep off next week and this
season aim for 3 years in succession in winning the league.
The committee would like to thank all who have worked tirelessly to
ensure expansion of the club and those who helped out at the recent
working bee. It has made a huge difference to our club and surrounds,
what a difference. So now its game on so come on down and see the changes,
support our teams and your club we hope you enjoy the positive changes.
We look forward to seeing you around the club throughout the season
while celebrating a successful 2013 season together.

We are also going to put out a 3rds team which will play on Sundays
for men 19-35.
