Peninsula Bayside presentation Night 4th October McClelland drive 7:00pm Start

Peninsula Strikers v Endeavour
6 v 0 (J.Bushos 3, D.Condon, M.Mills, R.Stamaria)
We started off very sluggish against Endeavour, maybe due to the fact that they only had 10 men, and no referee turned up for the game. A big thankyou must go to Colin Mitchell for refereeing the game for us.
We got an early penalty and Millsy stepped up to the plate, perhaps it was the fact that his wife was filming the game but he took an absolute shocker and knocked it wide. We continued to pressure the Endeavour goals but just couldn't score. It took Jose' to slot our first. Daniel fought hard all half up the front and helped set up Jose' with a penalty that he slotted for his second. Millsy made up from his mistake and slotted the third also with great work from Daniel. It was hard to get the super subs on the field in the first half but Jed and Chi took the field and battled hard.
The second half contiued much the same as the second until Rod and Laurence took the field both played absolute blinders and are not really sure why they are starting on the bench week after week. Laurence set Jose up for his 3rd and helped set Rod up for his great left foot slot pass the keeper. Daniel also finally got on the score sheet with his twentieth for the season.
A great effort by all players.
Phone calls were made after the game to find out that Mornington knocked off Carrum 2-0 thus making us the 2008 Division 1 Champions, a great effort for a team with no real coach. It must be said though that we do have about 15 to 20 players turn up for training each week fighting for the 11 positions which has really pushed all players each week.
Great job boys.

Unfortunately Phillip Island couldn't field a team this week so as a result they forfeited the points giving us a 3-0 win.

Strikers 4 v Brighton 0 (D.Condon, J.Skomrlj, R.Mouland, Damien ?)
A game we would have probably been happy to come away with a draw, resulted in a great win.

Strikers 3 v Braeside 1 (D.Condon 2, J.Bushos)
A great result but a disappointing end to the game with Lee Winsor breaking his leg, one minute to the end of the game. We hope Lee is on the mend.

SAXON SPORTS (new indoor leagues starting soon)
Juniors: Will be held on a Wednesday afternoon/evening starting at 4:30pm. The season starts on Wed 8th October. I currently have had interest in Under 13's, 15's and 18's comp as well. With an affordable fee of $8 per player per game it is an ideal way for the juniors to keep their eye in over the off-season.

Prizes: We have a shield on site that will be engraved accordingly and we provide trophies to Premiership & Runners up in all grades.

Mens: I endeavour to run a competitive off-season indoor soccer competition involving as many outdoor clubs as possible. It will be held on a Wednesday evening/night after the Junior comp matches. We look to have the season starting on the same date as the Junior’s 8th Oct. The comp will contain 2 grades; premier and reserves with a maximum of 7 players per team (5 on the pitch and 2 subs). Where possible all clubs are encouraged to submit a Premier and Reserve side to maximise its success and lifespan. I believe with the comp being advertised and run as professionally as our regular indoor sports this competition will be held in every off-season with great success and great reward; develop strong relationships for both the centre and all clubs in the area and to develop outdoor players over the off-season. We don’t require a membership fee but there will be a $50 game fee per match per team; we advise that players are informed prior to the commencement of the competition that
they will be required to pay weekly.

- Provide a $400 sponsorship to the Premiers and a $200 sponsorship to the Runners-up.

Strikers 4 V Cerberus 1 (J.Bushos 3, D.Condon)
We had a great 1st half and put away our chances, with the whole team really playing some great one two soccer. The 2nd half was a different story though with the Navy really pushing the game to us. We did have atleast 10 good chances at scoring but the Navy keeper did a great job to keep the majority out and some poor striking by the Strikers contributed to the rest.
Overall though who can complain a 4-1 win is a win and it keeps us at the top of the ladder. Mornington Away next week will be a tough encounter with Mornington hitting some good form.

Cup Last 16

Strikers V Carrum United (Draw)
A game i didn't want to miss, but unfortunately I did. I looked on the website to see the kick off time and it said 3pm so guess what I turned up at 4 o'clock to catch the second half but unfortunately all I saw was Carrum United getting in their cars to go home and Millsy having a chat with some of their players.
I did manage to understand one of their players when he said it was a draw. Sorry boys I didn't see you play, this website managaer has no idea what he is doing.

Cup Last 16

A great result against Cuscatlan with a 6-1 win, goals from Jose 2, Daniel 3 and Johnny 1. The win now puts us in 1st spot by 3 points. Keep on winning boys.

All 2008 Results

A good 2-0 win against Brighton Old Boys sees Peninsula again on top of the ladder, after some good chances in the first half we where unable to score. We came out stronger in the second half slotting two great goals. Next week we are away to Phillip Island. I think the trip away is going to start early with some of the boys going down early and spending the Saturday night.

A great result for the boys with Daniel Condon slotting away the first goal within the first half hour. We relaxed a bit after the goal and Mornington fought back and slotted the equalizer. We played some great football but just couldn't find the final pass or the back of the net. The midfield fought hard with Millsy, Maxy, Duncan and Billy, but just couldn't find the last ball. The defense were solid with Lee heading off most balls, Andy with his tough tackles, Adrian playing great balls up the wing (pass it to me, not up the line (John), and Joe (Yes Boss) working hard. The subs helped a bit with Jed Shearn up front and the welcome return of Life Member Laurence Hall in the middle just holding the ball up, knocking it around like a pro. We went into the half time break at 1-1. Our Super-Coach Steve Balog gave us an absolute drubbing at half time, and our Super- Super-Coach John Skomrlj I think had tickets on himself because he said he needed to the come onto the field to score because no-one else could. So we started the second half with Super-Coach Steve in goals and Super-Super-Coach John on the field, and the Pro Laurence Hall as the new Super Super Super Coach and it wasn't too long before John backed up what he said and slotted a good goal after a free kick. He'd had enough after the goal and decided to drag himself, then bag the team from the bench then spit the dummy and decided to go and a have an early shower (only kidding John, everything he said was very supportive). Which seemed to spur the side on because we slotted our third (Daniel again) to make the score 3-1. No goal from Millsy this week was he even playing???? A great result for the team. I'm sure we will be working hard on Wednesday night to improve our passing to a man on our side, as well as playing AJ's Fijian team. With positions tight, training is a must.

A great 2-1 for the boys against Cuscatlan with Daniel Condon scoring both goals.

What a start for the team a 10-0 win over Boronia Colts with goals from Daniel Condon 3, Mark Mills 3, Paul Cooper 3 and Andrew Beesey 1, we are at home next week also against Braeside who beat Langwarrin A 3-2.
